Byron Bay
Distance: 32 km (Approx. 30 minute drive)
Abundant shopping, fabulous restaurants and cafes, stunning surf beaches and walks to the headland and lighthouse – panoramic ocean views.
Byron Bay is a coastal town in the North East of NSW. The Cape Byron Headland occupies the most Easterly point in Australia. Byron Bay plays host to many exciting festivals and events throughout the year. Some highlights include Bluesfest Byron Bay, Splendour in the Grass, Writers Festival, Byron Bay International Film Festival, Byron Latin Fiesta and the Byron Bay Tri & Multisport Festival.
Lennox Head
Distance: 18 km (Approx. 20 minute drive)
Lennox Head has a great coastal village atmosphere, with a main street full of boutiques, cafes, restaurants, and a long strip of park adjoining the beach opposite. Enjoy fabulous views from Pat Morton Lookout. Great eateries include Williams Street, Shelter, Lennox Pizza, Seed and Husk plus plenty more.
Ballina
Distance: 16 km (Approx. 20 minute drive)
Stunning beaches, Richmond River, fishing, whale watching and snorkeling tours, shops, cafes and many dining options.
The coastal walk from Ballina to Lennox Head is breathtaking, or enjoy an easy walk along the North wall and spot marine animals including turtles, rays, fish and dolphins. Explore Shelly Beach rock pools at low tide.

Bangalow
Distance: 22 km (Approx. 20 minute drive)
Bangalow is a picturesque town combining a traditional streetscape with modern appeal. The main street is a pleasure to stroll along, filled with opportunities to indulge in excellent local food and boutique shopping. Bangalow is known as a pretty town with lovely parks, intriguing shops and high quality cafes and restaurants. The historical architecture of the federation buildings give a warm ambiance to the town.
Alstonville
Distance: 8 km (Approx. 10 minute drive)
Explore cafes, shops, and the iconic Federal Hotel. There is a Coles supermarket located here.
Tintenbar - Killen Falls
Distance: 10 km (Approx. 15 minute drive)
There is a short easy walk through the lush forest from the car park to the viewing platform at the top of the falls, where you’re rewarded with a bird’s-eye view down into the pool below. Take the steep and sometimes slippery (but not too challenging) walk down to the base of the falls to see them from a whole new angle. Keep an eye out for turtles, birds and other wildlife. And walk into the cave behind the falls to get a great view looking out.
Federal
Distance: 22 km (Approx. 25 minute drive)
Enjoy a picturesque drive through the winding hinterland roads and discover the delightful town of Federal. Stop in for lunch at Doma, a Japanese/Australian fusion delight. Sample great local coffee and wander the quaint shops.
Newrybar
Distand: 17 km (Approx. 17 minute drive)
Tucked away in the rolling hills of Byron’s lush hinterland, Newrybar is a countryside town with so much natural goodness. Small in size, Newrybar has a whole lot going on, from foodie delights to artisan homewares and furnishings. Newrybar has a handful of vintage cottage style shopfronts that house antique, and on-trend homeware and fashion stores. There’s also The Little General store where you can find food, coffee, a small bottle shop and fuel station.
Evans Head
Distance: 50 km (Approx. 40 minute drive)
The relaxed pace and serene setting is ideal for swimming, with a number of beaches and parks on either bank of the river. The annual Evans Head Fishing Classic attracts anglers of all ages and abilities.
Lismore
Distance: 25 km (Approx. 24 minute drive)
Lismore unites country charm with cosmopolitan verve thanks to its burgeoning population of creatives – painters, sculptors, filmmakers, musicians and dancers among them. On the banks of the Wilsons River on the far North Coast of NSW, the town is blessed with notable galleries and cultural institutions as a result. Explore the Lismore Regional Gallery as well as Lismore’s laneways, where 60-plus larger-than-life murals comprise the Back Alley Gallery. Some 25 local and international artists were commissioned to create these sensory-overloading works of street art and graffiti.
World Heritage Nightcap National Park

The wonderful Nightcap National Park an immense expanse of forest that forms part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area. Lace up your hiking boots, and wander along trails to thundering waterfalls, not in the least Minyon Falls, which you can observe remotely from a lookout, or up close when you dive into the cool swimming hole at its base.
Northern Rivers Rail Trail
The Northern Rivers Rail Trail from Murwillumbah to Crabbes Creek is a picturesque journey through the heart of the New South Wales region. The trail is suitable for both cycling and walking, with a well-maintained surface that provides a smooth and comfortable ride or walk. The trail takes you through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the area, including stunning views of the Tweed River.
